What Nosferatu says you follows. A Computer Science class without a hardware page is really a disgrace, so here I am representing the technical gurus in the great CG 02/97. This hardware page is mostly oriented for the  local computer users coz there is no page that does that currently and  I want to make it the first. As our G.P. teacher had said it is good to make a stand in the introduction (you can't go wrong) , the point I am going to make is that if you are considering to buy a computer system, assemble one yourself. I am not crazy, if it seems impossible for you to complete the task, look for a friend around you whom is a computer guru and ask him/her to help you or if you are bold enough, get one of the D.I.Y manuals and read through, it is a no brainer actually. I have nothing against proprietary computers, but they make their systems so difficult to upgrade that I think it SUCKS ! All of the parts that should have warranties come with them and some even had a week 1:1 exchange in case you blew it up. ;)

I decided to make the page in news archive form so as to make reading easier & faster.

    Sim Lim Square

While most of you out there thinks that Sim Lim Square is a place where they sell pirated hardware your are wrong. The shops there offer one of the greatest varieties of hardware and the best prices around. Funan centre is good but the prices are rather high. If you entirely loathe pirated software and do not want to be seen near them, take a lift to 4th storey. Some good shops are Videopro and Advance Gravis to name a few, look around, compare prices. There might be some ulu shops in a dark corner selling Pentium 233MMX for 150 bucks because they are in debt and need money or something.

If you are too lazy to go, you can check prices at the site

    Creative 3d Blaster(TM) Voodoo2 accelerator
Just found out that Creative is shipping its Voodoo2 accelerator on February 20th ! Fully equiped 12-Mb version for estimated street price of $299. And the 8-Mb version for US$229 (Which idiot will buy the 8-MB version for 70 bucks less ?). Wonder what the cost will be in Singapore. Maybe at least 500 bucks for the first week. Check out the press release. There will be more info on it in the future. More info on the Voodoo2 accelerator can be found at Voodoo2.com

If you think this page sucks and would like to look at better ones here are some I recommend..

If you have any hardware questions that you might want to ask, please forward them to my class's Mailbox, or if you think you can do better than me please sent me a mail and tell me why. If it is good enough I can let you do it. Criticism and Praises are most warmly appreciated.

What is even better is that if you have hardware to test do not hesitate to send me a mail now ! ;)
